Printing for the way Omaha does business.
Omaha is insurance, finance, agriculture and a downtown that hosts the country every June, and its businesses print like people who keep their word.
Omaha is home to some of the largest insurance and financial companies in the country and a famous investment firm, a major railroad, agricultural technology and food processing, a growing tech sector, and a healthcare system with a medical center at its heart. The Old Market and downtown carry the offices, restaurants and galleries; Blackstone and Benson carry the bars, shops and studios; Aksarben carries the newer offices; the west side carries the households.
Print in Omaha should be dependable and well made. Clean cards and sales sheets for insurance, finance and healthcare, postcards and rack cards for the Old Market and Blackstone, flyers and banners for the summer of baseball and festivals. Design is friendly and unpretentious.
Where print earns its keep in Omaha.
Print works differently in different parts of a city. These are the places in Omaha where a printed piece tends to do the most work, and the piece that usually suits each one.
The Old Market and downtown. Offices, restaurants and galleries. Cards for the meetings and rack cards for the visitors.
Blackstone and Benson. Bars, shops and studios. Flyers, postcards and rack cards with character.
Aksarben Village and the medical center. Newer offices, practices and vendors. Cards and sales sheets.
The CHI Health Center and the ballpark. Conferences and the College World Series. A retractable banner and rack cards.
One clear purpose. The right piece of paper.
What Omaha tends to order. Omaha's insurance and finance headquarters generate a steady, high volume of business cards ordered in batches for whole departments, plus sales sheets built around trust rather than flash. The rail and food-processing side of the economy wants something plainer still, a card and a sales sheet that simply state the facts. Around the ballpark and the Old Market, rack cards and postcards do the visitor-facing work the corporate offices never need.
Put a readable name first, then one line about what you do, then the one contact route you want people to use. A finish should support that, never make it harder to read.
Compare business card finishes| The moment | What usually works |
|---|---|
| The College World Series and the June crowds | Banners, flyers and rack cards for a bar or a vendor |
| A conference at the CHI Health Center | A retractable banner, booth cards and a sales sheet |
| A restaurant opening in Blackstone | Postcards and rack cards from opening night |
| A practice in Dundee or Aksarben | Rack cards and a neighbourhood postcard drop |
Make the whole set feel like your business.
A Omaha note. Omaha design is clean and trustworthy: navy, white, a friendly sans-serif, a matte card. For insurance and finance, a soft touch finish reads as careful. For the Old Market and Blackstone, a little colour and a real photograph.
A brand does not need every piece to look identical, only a consistent voice, a deliberate palette and type that works at several sizes. Bring your logo, or start from nothing: print product design is $97 and logo design is $250, set up for the product and finish you picked.
See what design costsPlan around the day you need it in hand.
Work backward from the day the materials have to be ready, and leave room for artwork, the proof, production and shipping. Each product page states its own time on press: two to three business days for most cards and postcards once you approve your proof, three to four for soft touch and door hangers, seven to twelve for the XL banner. Shipping sits on top of that. Give us the delivery address and your date when you order, with a receiving name if it is going to a venue, a hotel or a shared office. If the date is fixed, say so and we will tell you whether it is possible before you pay.
Getting print into Omaha. Omaha's core business districts sit fairly close together, but the newer offices and subdivisions to the west are enough of a drive that a single delivery date rarely suits a downtown headquarters and a west-side branch equally. Winters bring real cold and occasional ice that can slow deliveries into the region generally, and summers bring heat and humidity hard on stock left sitting in a hot vehicle. The early-summer ballpark crowds add downtown congestion worth planning past if a delivery is timed for that stretch.
Mailing in Omaha. For postcards by route, Dundee, Aksarben, Benson and the west Omaha subdivisions are where a mailer reaches households and gets read.
Give the file your full attention.
Use the artwork guide on the product you picked, because the finished size, the bleed and the safe area are not the same for every format. Upload a PDF, PNG or JPG and the size, bleed and resolution are checked in your browser, then your proof arrives by email and nothing goes to press until you approve it. Read your own details out loud when it lands: names, numbers, web addresses, dates, spelling and which side is which. If there is a QR code, scan it yourself.
