Printing for the way Las Vegas does business.
Las Vegas is the trade show capital of the world, and everything printed here is competing with a sixty-foot screen.
Las Vegas hosts the largest conventions in the country, alongside hospitality on a scale that exists nowhere else, a fast-growing residential metro of two million, and a business community of contractors, real estate, healthcare and every service that a city of new residents needs. The Strip carries the shows and the hotels; downtown and the Arts District carry the independents; Summerlin and Henderson carry the households.
Print in Las Vegas is mostly print for a show: retractable banners, sales sheets and cards for a booth, in quantities that would be excessive anywhere else. The neighbourhoods are a second market, where door hangers, postcards and flyers reach subdivisions full of new residents choosing every service.
Where print earns its keep in Las Vegas.
Print works differently in different parts of a city. These are the places in Las Vegas where a printed piece tends to do the most work, and the piece that usually suits each one.
The Las Vegas Convention Center and the Strip’s show floors. CES, SEMA and hundreds more. Banners, booth cards and sales sheets by the thousand.
Downtown and the Arts District. Bars, galleries and studios. Flyers, postcards and rack cards with character.
Summerlin and Henderson. New neighbourhoods, practices and shops. Door hangers, postcards and rack cards.
The hotels and their conference spaces. Meetings of every size. A retractable banner that ships to the hotel and cards for the team.
One clear purpose. The right piece of paper.
What Las Vegas tends to order. Las Vegas prints for two audiences at once: the show floor and the neighbourhood. Retractable banners and sales sheets carry a booth or a hotel meeting, in quantities a smaller city would rarely need. Rack cards suit the wedding and entertainment vendors who display at chapels, hotels and tour desks. Business cards serve the real estate and contracting trade tied to new-build growth, and door hangers and postcards reach the Henderson and Summerlin subdivisions filling in behind it.
Put a readable name first, then one line about what you do, then the one contact route you want people to use. A finish should support that, never make it harder to read.
Compare business card finishes| The moment | What usually works |
|---|---|
| CES, SEMA or any of the big shows | A retractable banner, cards for everyone on the booth and a sales sheet |
| A hotel meeting or a sponsored event | A banner shipped to the property and cards for the hosts |
| A contractor in a Henderson subdivision | Door hangers and flyers where the new houses are |
| A practice in Summerlin | Rack cards and a neighbourhood postcard drop |
Make the whole set feel like your business.
A Las Vegas note. On a show floor, your banner is read from thirty feet, so one line and a logo. Your sales sheet is read in a hotel room that night, so give it the specifications. Your card is read on a plane home; make the QR code lead somewhere worth landing.
A brand does not need every piece to look identical, only a consistent voice, a deliberate palette and type that works at several sizes. Bring your logo, or start from nothing: print product design is $97 and logo design is $250, set up for the product and finish you picked.
See what design costsPlan around the day you need it in hand.
Work backward from the day the materials have to be ready, and leave room for artwork, the proof, production and shipping. Each product page states its own time on press: two to three business days for most cards and postcards once you approve your proof, three to four for soft touch and door hangers, seven to twelve for the XL banner. Shipping sits on top of that. Give us the delivery address and your date when you order, with a receiving name if it is going to a venue, a hotel or a shared office. If the date is fixed, say so and we will tell you whether it is possible before you pay.
Getting print into Las Vegas. Hotel receiving is usually run by a department separate from the front desk, so a banner or boxes for a meeting need that department's name and the group's name on the order, not just the property address. The Strip and the wider valley, Henderson, Summerlin, the northwest, are a real drive apart despite feeling like one city, so a booth delivery and a neighbourhood mail drop are different plans. During a major show week, hotel receiving handles many groups at once, so confirm a venue's process early.
Mailing in Las Vegas. For postcards by route, Summerlin, Henderson, Green Valley and the southwest valley are subdivisions where a mailer reaches households.
Give the file your full attention.
Use the artwork guide on the product you picked, because the finished size, the bleed and the safe area are not the same for every format. Upload a PDF, PNG or JPG and the size, bleed and resolution are checked in your browser, then your proof arrives by email and nothing goes to press until you approve it. Read your own details out loud when it lands: names, numbers, web addresses, dates, spelling and which side is which. If there is a QR code, scan it yourself.
